Terra Maria: Our Process
Our process for implementing the Terra Maria Emerging Manger Program begins with investment managers providing information regarding their strategies, funds and areas of focus. The System’s Investment team then follows a series of steps to evaluate each manager. Investment staff across all asset classes will participate in underwriting emerging managers alongside a dedicated Terra Maria team. All managers must meet the same rigorous due diligence and investment standards as those performed by SRPS Staff for any other investment. Another way for managers to engage with the System is by contacting the program partners, including manager-of-managers, fund-of-funds, and consultants. Typically, the Investment staff reviews the materials submitted by managers, focusing on the investment strategy and thesis. If the materials demonstrate an interesting investment thesis and sound strategy, staff will schedule a call or meeting before evaluating portfolio fit and initiating due diligence. If the proposal does not meet a current need in the total portfolio, staff will save the materials and maintain an open line of communication with managers to support their growth initiatives over time.
