Dereck E. Davis assumed the position of 24th Maryland State Treasurer in December 2021. In this role, he oversees the State Treasurer’s Office and serves as the primary representative to financial rating agencies and investment banking firms. As a Constitutional Officer and representative of the General Assembly, Treasurer Davis is a member of various state boards and financial planning committees.

Treasurer Davis serves as the chair for the Capital Debt Affordability Committee, the Commission on State Debt, MarylandSaves, and is a of member of Board of Revenue Estimates. Additionally, he serves on several other boards and councils, including the Board of Public Works with the Governor and the Comptroller.

Prior to becoming Treasurer, Mr. Davis represented the 25th Legislative District of Prince George’s County in the Maryland House of Delegates for 27 years, where he chaired the Economic Matters Committee. Over the course of his career, Treasurer Davis has been active in national, regional, and state organizations, particularly in telecommunications, public utilities, and insurance. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland College Park.
